Clastres Raceway, Clastres France 27th July 2024 -The first qualification started during the 25th European Dragster at Clastres Raceway. Around a hundred and thirty competitors enter the season’s final race for the French championship, a slight increase compared to the last two races. It was a deja vu from June, as the weather gods weren’t at their best. It rained early in the morning, meaning it was all hands on deck from the Assosacion Throphee dragster organization to bring the track into racing conditions. The first qualification started in the afternoon, and with some delay here and there, all categories had the opportunity to do three qualification rounds. The provisional leaders are Mike Bruckmueller (SPET), Wouter van Leersum (PET), Clement Dubois (SC), Aurelien Menard (SG), Bilal Moulessehoul (SR), and Luke Mugridge (Jr.D).

During the last qualification round, Mike Bruckmueller takes the lead in Super Pro ET (SPET). It was a continuous battle for the first position, with a new leader after each round as competitors ran very close to their dail-in. Frank Romer led the first round by running an 8.559 at 255 km/hr on an 8.55 dail-in but was bumped to second place when Franz Aschenbrenner ran an 8.1102 second run on an 8.11 dail-in (0.00020 seconds away from his dail-in). In the third round, Bruckmueller took the number one spot from Aschenbrenner by running 0.00002 seconds from his dail-in (8.27002 seconds at 264 km/hrs on an 8.27 dail-in). Therefore, the top three in SPET are Bruckmuller, Aschenbrenner, and Laurent Arnaud in third place. There will be at least one qualification round tomorrow before the eliminations; therefore, it is an exciting category to follow to see if the top three will remain the same.

Wouter van Leersum takes the number one spot in Pro ET (PET). Martin Weikum was leading Pro ET during the first two rounds by running 0.018 seconds from his dail-in (10.568 at 205 km/hr on a 10.55 dail-in), but van Leersum ran a 10.4116-second run at 216 km/hrs on a 10.40 dail in (0.011 seconds) during the last qualification round of the day and took the first place. Weikum is now second, and Stefan Alberth is third, with a 10.568 at 202 km/hr. Gerd Habermann, the current leader in the championship, is fourth with a 9.09-second run at 228 km/hr.

Clement Dubios is the provisional leader after three rounds of qualification in Super Comp (SC-8.90 index). Dubois, also leading the championship, took the lead during the second qualification round with an 8.935-second run at 217 km/hr. Clarissa Czekalla is currently second with 8.952 seconds at 250 km/hr. It was quite a surprise seeing Czekalla so close to the category index, meaning that the team is finally getting the right combination for this category. Supecomp will be another exciting category to see if Dubios can maintain his number-one spot before going into eliminations. Didier Billault is in third place with an 8.963-second at 242 km/hr.

Aurelien Menard is the provisional leader in Supergas (9.90-index) after three rounds of qualifications. Manard drove his Ford Pinto in 9.906 seconds at 208 km/hr. Cedric Limasset is second with 9.962 seconds at 214 km/hr, and Oscar Scappocin is third with a ten-second run at 208 km/hr. The Gemelli team has some challenges to solve to get the Nitrous Nova back into the 9.90 zone. It will be interesting to see if they will take the number one spot or win Supergas Once again. It is also great to see a sudden increase in Supergas competitors compared to the championship’s first races!

Bilal Moulessehoul took the provisional number one spot in Street Run (SR) with a 12.05-second run at 187 km/hr (12-second dial-in). Championship leader Nicolas Chevassus is currently second with a 12.45-second run at 178 km/hr. The third place is for David Thiges.

As you may know, juniors qualify based on their reaction time. Luke Mugridge had the quickest reaction time (0.013 seconds) during the three qualification rounds and is the provisional leader in Junior Dragster (Jr.D). Thore Wolf is currently second, and Lina Wolf is in third place.

The first qualification rounds are completed during the last race of the French championship. Like June, the races started later than planned due to rain, but that didn’t take the fun away, and spectators enjoyed some good qualification runs. Another highlight this weekend is the comeback of the Velocity Racing Team competing in Super Pro ET in the Dodge Viper, with Jan Scheppers behind the wheel. The car has an entirely new setup (from nitrous to blower), and the team will use this weekend to test the vehicle.

Stay tuned for the second day of the 25th European Dragster weekend (the last Qualifications and elimination rounds!) We from The Chronicles of Boost want to wish all competing drivers good luck, but most of all, have fun!
