Clastres Raceway in Clastres, France, 28th July 2024: It’s Sunday, race day! Before the elimination began, there was one more qualification round for Super Pro ET and Pro ET and two qualification rounds for the remaining categories. Competitors used these wisely to maintain their spot or improve their position on the elimination ladder. The weather was perfect, with temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius and no rain, creating ideal conditions for side-by-side races during elimination rounds. The winners of the 25th European Dragster are Angel Romero (SPET), Jean-Luc Arnoud (PET), Gerd Habermann (SC), Cedric Limasset (SG), Clive Dandridge (SR), and Thore Wolf (JrD).

Angel Romero wins at Clastres Raceway in Super Pro ET (SPET)! After the fourth qualification round, Yesterday’s top three remained the same (Mike Bruckmuller, Franz Aschenbrenner, and Laurent Arnaud), and Romero qualified in ninth position. Romero met Jan Scheppers in Q1 and eliminated third qualifier Laurent Arnaud in the second elimination round. Romero got a bye run in the quarter-finals and met Eric Mats in the semi-finals, where Romero ran an 8.184-second run on an 8.18 dail-in. It would have been a close race, but Eric left the tree too early and gave the race away to Romero. The final race went between Romero and Franck Romer, but Romer left the three too early and gave the race away. Romero won with an 8.17-second run at 276 km/hr on an 8.18 dail-in. Yes, this would have been a breakout for Romero if Franck Romer hadn’t jumped the three!
Jean-Luc Arnoud takes the win in Pro ET (PET)! After the fourth elimination round, Yesterday’s leader, Wouter van Leersum, was still number one, with Sven Zijlstra second and Martin Weikum in third place. Arnoud was number twenty-one after four rounds and met Gerd Habermann in the first elimination round. Arnoud was the man to beat on the ladder and met Janine Petzold in the final race, where he won with a 10.47-second run at 211 km/hr (10.35 dail-in). Unfortunately, Janine couldn’t get the car back in first gear after the burnout and had to abort and give the race away to Arnoud.

Gerd Habermann wins again at Clastres Raceway in Supercomp (SC). After five qualification rounds, Clement maintains his number one spot with an 8.935-second run (no improvement on Yesterday’s time). He was supposed to meet Kenneth Celestin in the first elimination round, but unfortunately, Celestin didn’t show up at the start line. Gerd won from Arndt Putzmann and from Ddier Billault. The final race, in June, was between Habermann and Dubois in a side-by-side race. Dubois ran 8.961 seconds at 217 km/hr, But Habermann crossed the finish line in 8.938 seconds at 203 km/hr and took the win home.
Cedric Limasset won Supergas (SG)! Limasett was the man to beat this weekend. He qualified in the first position with a 9.903-second run at 216 km/hr. He also managed to eliminate championship leader Oscar Scappocin with a 9.944-second run at 216 km/hr vs. a 10.123-second for Scappocin. The final race went between Limasset and Peter Soursas in his Plymouth Barracuda, where Limasset won with a 10.02-second run vs. 10.16 for Soursas.
Clive Dandridge broke out in Street Run (SR) but still took the win home! After five qualification rounds, Dandridge qualified in sixth position but was the man to beat on the ladder. The final race went between Dandridge and David Thiges, where they both broke out, but as Thiges drove much faster, they handed over the race to Dandridge. David Thiges crossed the finish line in 11.91 seconds but had a 12.00 dail-in. Therefore, he ran 0.08 seconds faster than his dial-in. On the other hand, Dandridge had a 12.58-second dial-in but crossed the finish line in 12.554 seconds at 167 km/hr, which was only 0.02 faster than his dail-in and therefore took the win.
TThore Wolf won the junior dragster at Clastres Raceway. Wolf qualified in fourth position with a reaction time of 0.009 seconds and met Loris Wyeland in the first elimination round. Wolf also won the race against Sietse Zijlstra and met Emily Schaupp in the half-final. Sam Timmer was the one to beat on the other side of the ladder. Timmer qualified for the ninth position and won against Eleanor Petzold in the first elimination round. Timmers also won from top qualifier Luke Mugridge. The final race went between Wolf and Sam Timmers. It was a holeshot win for Wolf, who ran an 8.481 at 121 km/hr on an 8.40 dail-in, and Timmers, who ran an 8.935 seconds at 113 km/hr on an 8.90 dail-in.
The 25th European Dragster kicked off with a rainy start, but Sunday was bright and shiny, and all eliminations were completed. It was also the final race for the French Championship. We from The Chronicles of Boost want to congratulate all winners. To the rest of the racers, keep a positive mindset.
