Assen TT Circuit, The Netherlands 6 July 2020:  Automaxx-Meet The Track; a familiar name, at a familiar but refreshed track. An event which at first was a no visitors allowed due to covid-19 measures in The Netherlands, but was open for public just a couple of days before the start. A cloudy forecast that turned into a rainy weekend also influences the amount of people who found their way to the track. But for the die hard petrol heads, the organization (402 Automotive) worked hard to make the experience as close to a normal car show as possible with; best of show contest, Drag Races, Super Car Parade and many more.

TT circuit like any other track has seen nothing but cancelled events in their calendar, including the Dutch Moto GP. This was a good time to the track some updates;  like digital signs along the tracks, where driver can see the flag signals (Speed limit can be added during open track days), new asphalt, a wider pit entry coming of the track etc. As it was prohibited to organize events which attract a lot of visitors , 402 automotive started organizing track days. Automaxx-Meet The Track weekend was also one of those weekend where everyone, from the professional driver to a curious one with no racing experience at all can familiarize themselves with the new track. All car brands where welcome!

A rainy weekend didn’t keep the petrol-head away! A decent amount of participant lined up for the Drag Races (heads up 1/8” mile races), which has held ‘old skool’. No tree, just Mr. Leo “ Hoon it, till the wheels fall off” Honders at the starting line, giving the go signal! Noticeable was that a lot a RWD cars were struggling with the still wet, no prep track. It surely didn’t came as a surprise that an Audi TT RS AWD won the race and that a Tesla Model 3 end up in second place and a Bentley Continental GT in third place! A lot of power, without traction is like no power at all.

As there was quite some attendees from the supercar community , the ‘Supercar Sunday’ (Car event dedicated to exclusive supercar) grand stand display and parade was also held during the Track weekend. Centre of attention, a beautiful  McLaren Orange, McLaren Senna. This 4.0 liter Twin Turbo V-8, which is limited to only 500 is a true tribute to the famous Formula One driver; Ayrton Senna.

Another eye catcher was the completely costumized Dodge challenger SRT-8 and if you think this is a car wrap, you are wrong! This air brushed paint job is out of this world.

Automaxx Meet The Track; a track day which was converted into a car show at very last moment and very unlucky to be held in a rainy weekend. But die hard petrolheads aren’t made from sugar, so they made their way to the track and enjoyed a day with quartermile races, rev battles, super car parade and many more. Next stop, JAPFEST 2020 at Zandvoort Circuit on 26th July. Make sure you don’t miss it!
