SAMBIL, Veeris Curacao
Weekend of 24 and 25th of July 2021
As it’s becoming a tradition, Sambil Shopping Mall was host to another car show. This time, Drag Racing Association Curaçao (DRAC) held their best of the best Autoshow in order to promote their first racing event of the year.
It’s been a while since ‘DRAC’ organized a drag event by themselves here in Curacao; 23 years to be more precise! The organization, which majority consist of race drivers was more in the background in the past decades. This year they decided to take the wheel once again, organizing race events on the Curacao International Raceway Rondeklip. The Best Of The Best Autoshow was not only to promote the upcoming event and give the Motorsport world on the island a boost. It was also an opportunity to present themself as an event promotor and show the world their brand new uniform and logo.
The show allowed the public to admire some of the local drag cars and bikes and get a sneak peek of the upcoming races in the first week of October. Local drivers got the opportunity to register themselves and let the competition knows that they are ready!
On display, there were many bikes to see.
From turbo bikes of Shannigan and Hubert looking to run low 7 seconds or even 6 seconds in the 1320 to the nitrous and all motorbikes like the one from Jairo and Jose VRT, that run in the 8 seconds.
Sin Stress racing was also present with 3 of their cars
FOLLOW ME, ZEMBLE and RAMBAM are ready to race on the 3rd of October 2021. Sin Stress racing, a team to be reckon with in the upcoming races.
The import cars were also well represented. We even saw a few cars that we have not seen in a long while.
Tio Layo showed off his Mazda MX-3 powered by a 4G63.
Tonchi is back with his Starlet after having some drivetrain issues last time out.
Vinchi Abbath also brought My second step out. The 2jz powered Toyota Paseo was looking GOOD!
“El Fantasma de Franky” Toyota Starlet from Aldrin Muzo was also present.
Junior Dragsters drivers also made their appearance during the car show. ‘They are the future of local Drag Racing, and we must support them at all costs’
With this slogan, ‘DRAC’ wants to focus on the junior category. Besides the Junior dragster class, the organization will focus on a program for Junior drag Bike (Age 14-18). The Maint purpose of the program will be to attract the youth and provide opportunities for them to get to know the world of drag racing.
We also saw Cayochi’s altered drag car and the DON CHEMA Dragster on location during the weekend.
