Hockenheim-ring Germany 25th August 2024: It’s Sunday, which means one thing: Race day at the Rico Anthes Quartermile! The weather was much more relaxed and race-friendly today (around 20 degrees C). Spectators were thrilled with several close races in the Pro categories (FIA/FIM). Still, unfortunately, there was no three-second run in Top Fuel Dragster, but several five-second runs in Pro Modified and Top Methanol. The 2024 Nitrolympx winners for the FIA categories are Jndia Erbacher (TF), Jonny Lagg (TM), Andres Arnover (PM) & Jimmy Ålund (PS). The FIM category winners are Mark Simon Smith (TFB), Marcus Christiansen (STB), Jake Mechaell (SSB), Joerg Lymant D-Andendorf (PSB) & Hugo Leistner (JrDB).

Top qualifier Jndia Erbacher wins the 2024 Nitrolympx in the Top Fuel Dragster (TFD). Only five competitors were in this category, so three elimination rounds were needed to determine the winner. Erbacher qualified in the first position, had a bye run in the first elimination round, and met Duncan Micallef in the semi-finals in a thrilling race. Erbacher left the tree in 0.078 seconds (vs. a 0.113 for Micallef) and drove her dragster in a four-second flat over the finish line at 500 km/hr (4.419 seconds at 316 km/hr for Micallef). She was supposed to meet Dennis Nillson at the final race. But, Nillson was disqualified in the semi-finals as his car didn’t start (he had a bye-run). Therefore, Jndia drove a single final race where she ran a 4.084-second run at 475 km/hr.
Jonny Lagg takes the in in Top Methanol (TM)! It was also a five-car field for Top Methanol. Therefore, it didn’t take many rounds to get to the winner. Lagg won from Jϋrgen Nagel with a 5.391 second at 430 km/hr (6.651 seconds at 254 km/h for Nagel), had a Bye-run in the semi-finals, and met Tony Bryntesson in the final race. Tony had a slightly quicker reaction time over Lagg (0.105 for Tony vs. 0.117 for Lagg) but was no match for the 5.386-second run at 433 km/hr from Lagg (Tony Bryntesson crossed the finish line in 5.627 seconds at 414 km/hr). With this win, Lagg secured his lead in the 2024 European Championship for Top Methanol!

Andres Arnover takes the win in Pro Modified (PM)! Arnover had all the luck and good driving on his side during the Nitrolympx weekend. Arnover won from Walle Strobel with a 5.941 at 386 km/hr in the first elimination round, had a bye run, and met Michel Tooren in the semi-finals. Tooren was consistent in the five seconds today but hurt the engine badly (Tooren’s time was 7.379 seconds at 162 km/hr) during the race against Arnover. Arnover, who had a bad start, won eventually with a 6.540-second run at 375 km/hr). The final race went between Arnover and Swiss driver Bruno Bader. Arnover, with a slightly quicker reaction time, won the race with 5.957 seconds at 383 km/hr. With this win, Arnover will close the gap between him and championship leader David Vegter.

Jimmy Ålund is the absolute winner at the Rico Anthes Quartermile in Pro Stock. Ålund was the man to beat this weekend; not only did he qualify first, but he was consistent into the 6.6-second zone during elimination. The final race went between Ålund and Robin Norén. Norén had a slightly better reaction time against Ålund (0.051 seconds vs. 0.076 for Ålund), but Ålund was much faster and won the race with 6.582 seconds at 339 km/hr (6.699 seconds at 333 km/hr for Norén). With this win, Jimmy Ålund secured his lead in the championship (Norén is currently second and will maintain his position in the championship).

Robert Gasnner takes the win home in Super Pro ET. Gassner was pretty sharp on the tree during eliminations and running consistently (0.03 reaction time and an 8.4 elapsed time). Franz Aschenbrenner was the man to beat on the other side of the Ladder. Aschenbrenner won from top qualifier Christiaan Schneebeli in the first elimination round. Schneebeli left the tree too early and gave the race away. Aschenbrenner also won with an 8.07-second run on an 8.07 dail-in from Lucas Potthoff. The final race went between Gasnner and Aschenbrenner. Gassner had a slightly better reaction time and ran faster than his dail-in (8.417 with an 8.42 dail-in). Aschenbrenner also ran faster than his time, but Gasnner was still closer to his dial-in and took the win.
Super Gas [9.90 index] A solid win in Supergas for Oscar Scappocin in Supergas (SG). Scappocin qualified second and was one of the competitors to beat in super gas. On the other side of the ladder, top qualifier Philip Daud was the one to beat. Daud and Scappocin met in the final race, where Scappocin had a slightly better reaction time (.050 seconds for Scappocin vs. 0.089 seconds for Daud), but Daud ran much faster than the 9.90 index and lost the race. Scappocin crossed the finish line in 9.935 seconds.

Mark Simon Smith won the Top Fuel Bike (TFB) competition at the Rico Anthes Quartermile. Mark qualified third, won from Swedish rider Thomas Petterson in the first elimination round. Smith also won over Eric Richard in a close race during the semi-finals ( 6.718 for Smith against a 6.910 second for Richard). The final race went between Smith and top qualifier Rickard Gustafsson. But the race didn’t go as planned. Both riders triggered the tree by staging their motorcycles during the staging, but one of them returned. The system continued anyway, and Smith left and won the race while Gustafsson was still at the start line.
Solid win for Marcus Christiansen in the FIM Super Twin Bike (STB). Marcus Christiansen was the man to beat this weekend; not only did he qualify first, but he managed to be pretty consistent during eliminations. The final race went between Christiansen and Belgian rider Chris van Nimmen. Van Nimmen was no match for the 6.321 at 288 km/hr from Christiansen.
Jake Mechaell takes the win home in Super Street Bike (SSB). Mechaell qualified first and had the right combination to beat the competition. The final race went between Mechaell and Krisztiάn Jάsz in a side-by-side race. Mechaell won with a 6.894 at 332 km/hr against a 6.902 for Jάsz.
