The 2024 French championship is approaching its final race. With less than one and a half weeks to go, the final race will kick off at Clastres Raceway. In some classes, the leader is so far ahead of the rest that little can go wrong with losing that position, and in another category, the top three are very close to each other, making it an intriguing final. The provisional leaders are Michael Mikuscheit in Super Pro ET (SPET), Gerd Habermann in Pro ET (PET), Clement Dubois in Supercomp (SC), Oscar Scappocin in Supergas (SG), Nicolas Chevassus in Street Run (SR) and Marie Camilleri in Junior Dragster.

Michael Mikuscheit is currently leading SPET with 228 points. After winning the first round in May against Angel Romero, Mikuscheit placed himself again in the semi-finals during the second round in June but lost against Alain Durr. Reaching the semi-finals gave Mikuscheit 97 points, which was good enough to stay in the lead. Angel Romero, who was second, is now in eighth position with 116 points after being unable to compete in June. Second place is for rising star Lucas Potthoff, who won his first-ever Super Pro ET race in June and jumped to second place with 169 points. Alain Durr is currently third with 163 points, making this category exciting to follow during the final race. Last year’s winner, Armandine Arnoud, is currently in 16th position.

Gerd Habermann is the current provisional leader in the Pro ET category with 244 points. His loss to Ronnie Mercer from the UK in May was followed by a triumphant win in June, catapulting him to the top spot. Mercer is in second place with 168 points, and Rene Schindler is in third place with 168 points. Peter Soursas, Last year’s winner, is currently in 21st place, making this not the best year for Soursas.

Clement Dubois is the provisional leader in SuperComp after two races. Dubois won his first race in Supercomp in May, which was good for 97 points. During the second race in June, he qualified first and made it to the final race, where he lost against the dragster from Gerd Habermann. It was enough for Dubois to stay in the lead with 175 points, but Gerd Habermann is in second place with 153 points. Currently, in third place is Didler Billaut, with 133 points.

Nicolas Chevassus is the current leader in Street Run. The reigning champ in Street Run still has the right combination to maintain the lead after two races. Chevassus won the first race in May and accumulated 118 points, but only accumulated 54 points in the second race, where he got eliminated by Samatha Fermond in the quarter-finals. With a total of 172 points, Chevassus kept his lead by one point, as Samanta Fermond is currently second with 171 points! Will Fermond, who also ended up second last year, be able to turn the championship around in her favor? It would be an interesting final race. Bilal Moulessehoul is in third place with 146 points.

Among the juniors, Marie Camilleri is the provisional leader with 211 points. After winning the first race in May, Camilleri came in second during the second race in June. Dutch driver Yannis Weyland is currently second with 169 points. Mia Thoma from Switzerland is in third place with 134 points.

The 2024 Trophy Dragster championship is ongoing, and there is still time to change things up or maintain the lead and increase the points. Other news unrelated to the tournament is that Velocity Racing returns after being absent for several seasons. It would be interesting to see both Mustang and Viper on the track and see what their new setup can do as the team steps away from Nitrous to a Blower system.
