Formula D Round 3 - Invasion
Upon arriving at the location you can already start to see the tuned cars,
the drift cars on the trailers and the groups of people tailgating waiting
for the gates to open. Upon entry you get hit with the teams and the
rides around the lot. It is an awesome sight to see.Walking around the
different tents of the part makers and different customizing garages,
one feels like in automotive heaven.
It is just an awesome feeling that you must be a part of at least one time.

Slammed Society car show
We were treated to exciting on-track action intermingled with the Slammed Society car show and
display of cars from the Targa Trophy. When we saw these slammed tricked out rides roll in,
we ran over to get a better shot. These are not trailer queens, but daily driven rides that rolled
onto the grounds on their own power. There was import and muscle, old and new school and also some
that would make you say "WTH". These people put their heart and soul into these rides and it show.
The fans were treated to exciting on-track action intermingled with the Slammed Society car show and
display of cars from the Targa Trophy.

Meet the drifters
Fans of FD always has a chance to get signed merchandise and posters
from their favorite drivers at the event. Be up close and personal with
your favorite drifters. Take pictures from them and even share a small
conversation. It is a nice way to see how these people are just hard
working men doing what they love.

The Competition
FD competition is very easy to follow.
- 32 drifter fight for a spot in the qualifier.
- Top 32 elimination
- Top 16 elimination
- Great 8 elimination
- Top 4 elimination
- 3rd place battle
- Finals
Drivers must maintain to the rules and regulations FD puts in place at each event. Judging always
is a hot topic and might not by liked by the crowd at times, but the sport progresses as it goes
and tries to be the best for every one that is in it. The drifters hang it out and go hard every time,
sometimes to hard, but hey it is drifting. People will get hit, people will hit obstacles,
but it is all part of the game.
The technical track featured a fast entry that proved to be a challenge for some of the drivers with
many favorites failing to enter the later rounds of competition. The consolation round pitted
Robbie Nishida in the Bridges Racing/Achilles Lexus SC300 against Vaughn Gittin in the
Monster Energy/Nitto Tire Ford Mustang. After failing to reach the line after a Competition Timeout
following mechanical problems from the previous round, Gittin conceded to give Nishida the win and
third place. The final battle pitted Michael Essa in the GSR Autosport/Yokohama Tire BMW M3 against
returning champion Daigo Saito in the Bridges Racing / Achilles Tire Lexus SC430, who also won this
event last season. The battle was fierce, but Essa took the victory after Saito had a slight error in
his chase run. This is Essas first Formula DRIFT pro championship podium and victory, which moves him
into third place overall in the standings. Saito in the process moves into first place overall with
Gittin closely behind him in second place.
