Gamma Racing Days – Day One Saturday 5 th August 2017: On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August 2017 the 7th edition of the GAMMA Racing Day took place on TT Circuit Assen. Two days full of beautiful and thrilling races of cars, motorcycles and superkarts. Our photographer was there on Saturday.

With fast times that would not be ill suited for the MotoGP, the German Peter Elkmann (2) made a big impression on the Superkart race on Saturday afternoon, a contest officially counting for the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship. The German triumphed with almost half a second lead to his countryman Andreas Jost (10). The fact that those two went fast showed off the lap times that were very close.  Jost drove the fastest lap with his kart: 1.35.427, almost a second slower than the fastest round at the MotoGP in June on the TT Circuit Assen.  2017_08_05_1035

With 33 laps and a fastest lap time of 1: 35,696 the Equipe Hauser / Hauser (222) was victorious in the Supercar GT & Prototype Challenge. The fight was decided after Christopher Dreyspring (203), as leader in the final phase of the race, blew up his Ligier LMP3. As a result, the opportunity was open for Hauser to snatch the win.

Lovers of historical racing cars were treated to the National Championship Historical Tourers and GTs. In that class, the Lotus Elan (45) with Bob Stevens was the fastest, but the victory did not come easily. Narrow a second after him it was Tom Kuiper with his Chevrolet Corvette (5) who passed the finish line in second place.

In the BOSS GP, exotic Formula One and Two cars made up the starting grid, such as the Toro Rosso STR1 F1 with Austrian Ingo Gerstl (1) who broke the 10 year old lap record on Assen last year. Unfortunately, the race was plagued by a lot of accidents and there were many dropouts. In the first round Ingo Gerstl spinned, Toro Roso is at the end of De Bult, and was unable to continue. It was Johann Ledermair who claimed the victory in his Dallara GP2 (444).

Following the BOSS GP Erik van Loon drove two rounds to shakedown the 1993 Formula 1 Ferrari F93A of the Scuderia Ferrari team with Gerhard Berger and Jean Alesi. Unfortunately, the impressive sound of the V12 engine (740 hp) is not reflected in the pictures.
