Hockenheimring, Germany, 29th August 2025: The 2025 Nitrolympx kicked off today at the Rico Anthes Raceway with the first qualification rounds for all sportsmen categories, as well as the FIA and FIM categories. As usual, the Nitrolympx weekend is open with the first qualifications for the sportsmen categories, followed by the FIA/FIM categories. The weather forecast wasn’t looking good. Still, the gods blessed the Rico Anthes Quartermile race track with 22 degrees C, and it was dry till early evening. Not all categories have their second qualification run today due to several holdups on the track and raindrops at the end of the day. Top Qualifiers for the FIA categories are Jndia Erbacher (TF), Tony Bryntesson (TM), Mats Eriksson (PM) & Jimmy Ålund (PS). Top qualifiers from the FIM categories are Stuart Crane (TFB), Marko Lantto (STB), Loannis Martzaklis (SSB), Karl-Heinz Weikum (PSB) & Feline Groβ (JrDB).

Jndia Erbacher, like last year, took the number one spot here at the Rico Anthes Quartermile in Top Fuel Dragster (TFD). A low entry this year in TFD, with only three participants, all three were assured of a trophy, which one will depend on their progress. No three-second run yet in TFD as all three struggled to get all that horsepower down the track, but Jndia dominated Top Fuel in both qualification runs. First, with a paddling run, crossing the finish line in 5.188 seconds at 201 km/h, and improved this to 4.246 seconds at 371 km/h in Q2. Liam Jones is currently second with a 5.340-second run at 208 km/hrs. Susanne Callin is in third with a 5.561-second run at 194 km/hrs.

Tony Bryntesson is the provisional leader in Top Methanol after two qualification rounds. Like the rest of the FIA categories, TM competitors had two qualification runs today. They will have two more tomorrow before proceeding to eliminations on Sunday. Bryntesson claimed the number one spot during Q1 with a 5.385 seconds at 428 km/hrs. He couldn’t improve his time in Q2, but remained in the lead. Jonny Lagg is in second with a 5.478 seconds at 421 km/hrs and Silvio Strauch in third with a 5.604 seconds at 384 km/hrs, which was a slight improvement on his 5.710 second run in Q1.

In addition to the Top Methanol competitors, the spectators were thrilled by the German brothers Timo & Dennis Habermann from the Werner-Habermann Racing Team, who made an appearance after being absent for several years. They are not officially competing this weekend, but the team put on a good show for the audience when Dennis paddles down the track and still manages to run 5.876 seconds at 378 km/hrs.

Pro Modified: A lot of struggles and paddling down from the Pro Modified (PM) competitors in Q1, where only David Vegter managed to run a five-second run (5.950 sec at 384 km/hrs). However, this all changed in Q2 when Mats Eriksson also managed to run a five-second run, which was 0.003 of a second faster than David’s, to claim the number one spot (5.926 seconds at 386 km/h). David, unfortunately, couldn’t improve his time and is now in second place. Michel Tooren is currently third with a time of 6.011 seconds at 385 km/h. Championship Leader Jere Rantaniemi is currently 4th with 6.013 seconds at 396 km/hrs.

Jimmy Ålund takes the lead in Pro Stock (PS). Ålund, like last year, managed to beat the competition in Q2 with a 6.699 second at 333 km/hrs. Like the rest of the Pro categories, Pro Stock drivers have also experienced significant tyre shake and struggle to keep the car straight (only two cars into the six seconds). Michael Malmgren is currently second with a 6.819 seconds at 319 km/hrs. In third is Henry Riehl, with his Mercedes-Benz, who crossed the finish line in 7.037 seconds at 316 km/hrs. Championship Leader, Robin Norén, is currently sixth after two qualification runs.

Additionally, some Sportsman categories had only one qualification run completed today, and this was the case for the Super Pro E.T. competitors. Robert Gassner takes the number one spot with an 8.465-second (8.42 dial-in) at 259 km/hrs. Gerhard Dold is second with an 8.806 seconds (8.75 dial-in) at 245 km/hrs. Lucas Potthoff is currently third with a 7.670 seconds on a 7.58 seconds dial-in.

Supercomp (8.90 Index) competitors also had only one run today. Til Schöninger is currently in the lead with an 8.927 seconds at 235 km/h. Kenneth Celestin is second with an 8.948 seconds at 213 km/hrs. Gerd Habermann is third with an 8.973 seconds at 235 km/hrs.

Only one qualification run for the Top Fuel Bike (TFB) competitors (due to delay and weather conditions), and it is Stuart Crane who takes the provisional number one spot with a 6.511 second at 331 km/hrs. Also, the bikers struggle to get all the power down the track. Therefore, Crane was the only one in the six seconds. Mark Smith is second with a 7.062 seconds at 292 km/hrs, and Kari Rautanen is third with a 7.216 seconds at 335 km/hrs.

Additionally, the Super Twin Bike (STB) competitors had only one qualification round today, and it was Marko Lantto who managed to set the quickest run, taking the number one spot. Lantto ran a 6.816 seconds at 344 km/hrs. Per Bengtsson is currently in second place with a 6.931 seconds at 234 km/hrs. Martin Bϋhler is currently third.

Loannis Martzaklis from Greece is the provisional leader for Super Street Bike. Unlike last year, when the top three were within six seconds, the struggle was noticeable today. Martzaklis qualified first with a 7.203 seconds at 326 km/h, followed by Rudi Zorzi with a 7.464 seconds at 324 km/hrs. Brad Head is in third place with a 7.567 seconds at 308 km/hrs.

Karl-Heinz Weikum from Germany takes the number one spot after two rounds of qualification in Pro Stock Bike (PSB) with a 7.359 seconds at 299 km/hrs. Dimitrios Petridis is currently second with a 7.437 seconds at 266 km/hrs, followed by another Greek rider, Pavlos Sidiropoulos. Sidiropoulos crossed the finish line in 7.488 seconds at 282 km/hrs.
