Tierp Arena, SWEDEN 8th June 2018: Qualifying rounds continues for the sportsmen class and The first Qualifying round started for all FIA Drag Race class here at  Tierp Arena drag strip. Tierp international race started on 7th June and is the 2nd round for the FIA European championship.  This year “Drag Race” in Sweden is celebrating its 50 anniversary.

The first Qualifying race of the Top Fuel (TF) class started with Jöran Persåker, who performed a beautiful burn-out, but had some trouble to get the dragster in reverse and at the same time the safety system kicked in and launches the parachute.

Anita Mäkelä  takes the lead already in the first qualification round with a stunning 3.905 sec run at 496.78 Km/hrs.  Anita is currently 2nd  in the Top Fuel class behind Stig Neergaard. Unfortunately she couldn’t improve her time during the 2nd qualifying round, but kept the lead. On the 2nd place it is Timo Lehtimäki with a 4,132 sec run, which is a new personal best for Timo, congrats to the team. Mikael Kågered is currently in 3rd place with a 4.42 sec run. Last year TF champion (Duncan Micallef) is just behind Mikael with a 4.52 sec.

In the Top Methanol class, it’s the Habermann brother who are in the lead, with Timo Habermann as top qualifier with a 5.314 second run at 434.78 km/hrs. Dennis is currently at 2nd place with a 5.34 run. He couldn’t improve his time as he had some technical issue during his 2nd qualifying run. Johny Lagg is currently at 3rd place with a 5.398 second run, which is also his Personal Best.

Pro stock; Bengt Ljungdahl takes the lead after two qualification rounds with a 6.531 second run, following by Thomas Lindström with a 6.581 sec and Michael Malmgren in 3rd place with a 6.598 run. The leader in this class, Stefan Ernryd dropped to the 7th place in the qualification after struggling at the start. Will he improve his time? stay tuned for final qualification rounds.

It is Andreas Arthursson who takes the lead in the Pro modified class in his turbo chevelle with a 5.866 second run, which is also a personal best.  Andreas first 5 second run and good for the first spot at Tierp International. Jimmy Alund is in second with a 5.90 sec and Jan Ericsson in third with a 5.936 second run. David Vegter, the only dutch team competing is just behind Ericsson with a 5.94 sec run.
