The<br \/>\nengine propelled doorslammer legend Rickie Smith to the 2013 NHRA Pro Mod<br \/>\nchampionship, and Smith&#8217;s success carried over into 2014 as he set the quarter-mile<br \/>\nrecords for a nitrous-assisted car in both elapsed time and speed. With one race<br \/>\nremaining, Smith is also in prime position to claim back-to-back championships.<\/p>\n<p>The fuel-injected, 14.8 liter V8 engine also dominated the eighth-mile drag racing<br \/>\ncircuits, powering Pro Nitrous racer Jason Harris to the final round of all eight<br \/>\nProfessional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) events. He was victorious in six of<br \/>\nthose final rounds and was the undisputed Pro Nitrous world champion. Fellow Pro<br \/>\nNitrous racer Tommy Franklin set the division&#8217;s elapsed time record and Pro Nitrous<br \/>\nrookie Lizzy Musi, Pat&#8217;s daughter, finished the season with the speed record.<br \/>\nFranklin and Musi were also the only racers to defeat Harris and claim event wins in<br \/>\n2014.<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7655 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tcobcur.com\/ver4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/PatMusi_logo_600px.png?resize=600%2C240&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"PatMusi_logo_600px\" width=\"600\" height=\"240\" \/><br \/>\n[gard]<br \/>\nFifty practicing professionals in the diverse world of race engine design and<br \/>\ndevelopment participate in the judging for the North American Race Engine of the<br \/>\nYear and overall Race Engine of the Year awards.
