Clastres Raceway, France 22nd June 2025: The 27th European Dragster weekend continued today with the last qualification runs. All competitors had at least one qualification round in the morning before proceeding to the elimination rounds. The weather conditions were more bearable than yesterday, with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, accompanied by some grey clouds. As per tradition, the juniors kicked off the day with the qualification round seven, followed by the adults. Spectators were delighted by some thrilling close races, jet car demo, and holeshot wins. The absolute winners of the 27th European Dragsters are Raffaele Corneo (Super Pro ET), Peter Stevens (Pro ET), Gerd Habermann (Super Comp), Steven Loisel (Supergas), Laurent Arnould (True Street), and Emely Kuno in Junior Dragster.

Raffaele Corneo from Italy takes the win home in Super Pro ET! All competitors had one more chance to improve their time today. However, there was no improvement in the timing for the top three in Super Pro ET. Remarkable was the number of no-shows and red lights during eliminations, but that’s also part of the drag racing experience. Jean Christophe Chaillot, Thierry Senges, and Lucas Potthoff were ranked number one, two, and three, but only Senges remained in the race in the semi-finals, where he lost to Alex Halter from Switzerland. The final race was between Halter and Raffaele Corneo. Corneo was razor-sharp on the tree, with a reaction time of 0.005 seconds (vs 0.108 seconds for Halter), and ran a 7.873-second run on a 7.83-second dial-in vs. Halter, who ran an 8.06 seconds on an 8.04 dial-in.

Peter Stevens won Pro ET in an all-Dutch final! Peter, who’s first year behind the wheel of the Blue Angel Ford Mustang, was the man to beat this weekend. All Pro ET competitors had one last qualification round before proceeding to eliminations. Also, in this category, the top three remained unchanged, with Peter Stevens, René Siefert, and Olivier Coulon in third place. While both Siefert and Coulon lost in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, Stevens (who won from Coulon in the semi-finals) went all the way through to the final race. On the other side of the Ladder was Ed Breedveld, another well-known Dutch Pro ET competitor, who had the right combination to get to the finals. It didn’t go smoothly, as Ed hurt the gearbox in the previous round, but he still showed up for the final race against Stevens. Stevens had a better reaction time (0.153 seconds vs 0.257 for ED) and crossed the finish line in 9.260 seconds on a 9.19 dial-in (9.783 seconds on a 9.59 dial-in for Ed) to claim the victory.

The king of Supercomp strikes again, as Gerd Habermann takes the win home! Supercomp competitors had two more qualification rounds today, but the top three remained unchanged; Cheyenne Visser remained in the lead, Clemènt Dubois was second, and Sam Weyland was third. Visser met Gerd Habermann in E1 but ran quicker than the Supercomp index of 8.90 seconds and handed over the race to Habermann. Habermann met Janine Petzold in the semi-final, left the tree in 0.013 seconds (vs. a 0.367-second reaction time for Janine), and crossed the finish line in 9.005 seconds at 225 km/h, while Janine went faster than the supercomp index and handed the race over to Habermann. The Final Race went between Clarissa Czekalla—both were pretty sharp on the tree (0.018 for Czekalla vs. 0.032 for Habermann), and both had a 60ft of 1.3, but after that, Habermann was in the lead and crossed the finish line in 8.945 seconds at 237 km/hrs (8.977 seconds for Czekalla).

Steven Loisel takes the win in Supergas during the 27th European Dragster Weekend. Supergas Competitors had three more qualification rounds before going into eliminations (due to low entry, only nine cars). Loisel was the man to beat and kept his lead. There was a slight change in the numbers two and three as Phillip Daud from Germany managed to conquer the second place in Q8 with a 9.912-second run at 214 km/hrs. Peter Soursas claimed the number three spot, improving his time significantly to a 9.944-second run at 218 km/h (which is also his personal best). Loisel won from Marianne Wisotzke and Peter Soursas. The final race pitted Loisel against Aurelien Menard. While Menard had a good reaction time (0.039 seconds vs 0.214 seconds for Loisel), it was Loisel who reached the finish line first. Loisel clocked 9.97 seconds on the quarter-mile to seal the deal (10.197 at 207 km/hrs for Menard).

The king of the street this weekend went to Laurent Arnould, who took the win home in True Street. True Street competitors also had only one chance today to make the final tweaks on their vehicles before starting eliminations. But this last round didn’t have an impact on yesterday’s top three. It was still Jean Luc Jacot in the lead and Samantha Fermond and Eric Armand in the second and third positions. Ultimately, the top three didn’t advance to the final round. It was Merijn Breij from the Netherlands against Laurent Arnould in the finals. Arnould had a significantly better reaction time than Breij (0.147 seconds vs. 0.457 seconds for Breij) and ran 12.171 seconds on a 12.02-second dial-in, compared to 14.221 seconds (14.20 dial-in) for Breij to take the win, which was decided at the tree already.

Emely Kuno is the big winner today in Junior Dragster. After two qualification rounds in the morning, it was still Felix Schmid in the number one spot with a reaction time of 0.0022 seconds. Yannis experienced a considerable improvement, having been in third place yesterday, but managed to react at 0.0066 on the tree today, thereby taking second place. Third place went to Sam Timmers from the Netherlands, with a reaction time of 0.0090 seconds. But in the end, the only two remain for the final race. It was Emely Kuno vs. Felix Schmid, which could have been an interesting race, but unfortunately, Schmid left the tree too early, handing the race over to Emely.

Picture of the day goes to the lost and found table (objects that were either left behind at the start of the race or fell off the race car). Shout out to whoever lost their good luck charm (a coconut) during the race. We want to congratulate all our winners. To the rest of the racers, keep a positive mindset. Every journey is a learning experience, and you’ll return next time stronger to outdo the competition!
Note: The gallery will be updated in the coming weeks, so please return to admire all the pictures.
