Hockenheim-ring GERMANY August 2019: it’s been just over 4 weeks since the last FIA round at Kauhava Finland and now looking at 48 hours to go, prior the next FIA/FIM race at the ‘Rico Anthes Quatermile’ track at Hockenheim-ring. (check out last years report below)
So how is the point standings after 3 rounds? Anita Mäkelä, the reigning champion is leading the Top fuel class with 260 points. And of course, we couldn’t resist asking what we expect from her this weekend
Question: You are currently leading, so what can we expect this weekend? Liam Jones won last year setting a new track record, will you make an attempt to set a new one?
Anita: ‘First I want to be the fastest and then win Nitrolympx 2019. Achieving that will make me smile! Record breaking is a nice bonus if it comes’.
Rookie driver Maja Udtian is behind Anita with just 46 points behind in second place. And of course, we took the opportunity to ask her a couple of questions.
Question: Currently in second place, was this expected or it came as a surprise? What can the public expect this weekend from you and your team? Will you aim for the win or ensuring you have enough point to maintain that number two spot?
Maja: ‘Well, to be honest, it doesn’t come as a surprise, but it still feels like a dream that is going so well. We knew upfront that Rune got some fast cars, so I did everything I could to be prepared. Hopefully, we will get some great runs, as we know the car is fast. It made some fast run last year. We will do our best this weekend and see how far it will take us!’
Liam Jones I currently in third place. Last year Liam won Nitrolympx with a stunning 3.882-second run and set a new track record. Curious to know what the public can expect from Liam, we ask him the following;
Question: You’re currently third behind Anita and teammate Maja, what can the public expect? Last year you won, setting a new track record of 3.882 seconds, any chance of repeating it this year?

Liam: ‘ well you can expect all sorts of things from us this weekend. We’d like another win and obviously to improve upon our track and record and speed from last year. We’re confident that we can repeat it and will work as hard as last year to achieve it!’
So the challenge is on in this class, who will take the win? Will we witness new track records? Stay tuned for our daily coverage!
The point standings In pro mod are pretty close as; Jan Ericsson is dominating the class with 258 points, Andreas Arthursson in second place with 242 points and Michael Gullqvist with 231 points. Would we have a new leader after nitrolympx?
Top methanol is currently lead by Belgium driver Sandro Bellio with 227 point, with Jonny lagg in second place with 196 point. One different in this class is that the Habermann brother are joining the race at the Rico Anthes and announced that the cars are in top condition. Will it be Habermann victory or can Sandro stay ahead of the game?

For the motorcycle (EDRS series) it’s the FIN Vesa Ruhanen who is leading the Super Street bike with 384 points and Ida Zetterstrom right behind him with 369 point. Ida just made history, being the first female SSB rider to win a race in the EDRS Nordic Motorcycle championship. Will she be able to win Nitrolympx and claiming the lead in the championship?
