Rico Anthes Quartermile, Hockenheimring, Germany, 21st August 2026: Qualifications for the sportsman categories kicked off with the first session for both cars and bikes. But unfortunately, some rain showers put the races on hold around midday. After one qualification round, the top qualifiers in the sportsman categories are Julian Bayer (Pro Comp), Lucas Potthoff (SPET), Rilana Dold (PET), Ronnie Mercer (SC), Philipp Daud (SG) & Lenny Fässler (JrD). The top sportsman bike qualifiers are Thomas Joswig (FB), Panos Charchalakis (SCB), and Falk Odenthal (ET Bike).

Julian Bayer in his Volkswagen Golf 2 ran 6.835 seconds at 320 km/hrs to take the provisional number one spot in Pro Comp (competition car). Renè Ehrismann (Switzerland), in his 1955 Bel-Air, is second with a 7.073-second run at 312 km/hr. Jack Williams is third with a 7.400-second run at 302 km/hrs.

Lucas Potthoff claimed the top qualifying spot in Super Pro E.T. (SPET) with a 7.660-second run at 281 km/hr. He ran only 0.050 seconds from his dial-in (7.61 seconds). Enrico Bailo from Italy claimed the number two spot with an 8.981-second run at 240 km/hrs on an 8.90 dial-in. Christian Schneebeli (from Switzerland) is third with 7.864 seconds at 268 km/hrs on a 7.78 dial-in.

In Pro E.T. (PET), Rilana Dold took the number-one spot by running 0.025 off her dial-in. Dold crossed the finish line in 11.655 seconds at 186 km/hrs on an 11.63 dial-in. Frank Kraus, who ran 0.042 seconds from his dial-in (11.302 seconds at 198 km/hrs on an 11.26 dial-in), is second. Christian Frasson is third with a 9.876-second run at 217 km/hrs on a 9.82 dial-in.

In Super Comp (SC 8.90 index), Ronnie Mercer (from England) claimed the provisional number-one spot in the second qualification round by running 0.006 from the class index (8.906 seconds at 241 km/hr). He pushed Janine Petzold to second. Petzold did not improve her 8.913-second run at 262 km/hr from Q1. Kenneth Celestin, who had been provisional second in Q1 with an 8.924 at 221 km/hr, had a technical problem with his fuel system and did not make it to the start line. His 8.924 is currently good enough for third place.

Daniel Vetterl took the top qualifying position in Super Gas (SG 9.90 Index) after two rounds of qualifications. Vetterl was third in Q1, but improved his time to a 9.957 at 214 km/hrs to take the number one spot. Philipp Daud, who ran a 9.959 at 224 km/hr in Q1, could not improve in the second round and is second. Manfred Gräber is currently third with a 9.979 at 206 km/hr.

In Junior dragster (JrD, the only category whose qualification is based on reaction time and not elapsed time), it was Lenny Fässler who claimed the provisional number-one spot with a reaction time of 0.006 seconds. Emily Schaupp is currently second with a reaction time of 0.038 seconds. Felix Schmid is currently third with a reaction time of 0.053 seconds.

And of course, we couldn’t forget the sportsman categories for the bikes, where Thomas Joswig claimed the provisional number one spot in Funny Bike (FB). Joswig stormed in 7.677 seconds at 218 km/hr. David Weikum is currently second with a 7.882-second run at 254 km/hr. Stefan Hagenstein is in third place with 8.186 seconds at 265 km/hr.

In Super Comp Bike (SCB 8.50 index), it is Panos Charchalakis who claimed the provisional number one spot with an 8.512 seconds at 241 km/hr. Torben Frahm is currently second with an 8.613 seconds at 255 km/hr. Peter Östlund is currently third with 8.625 seconds at 227 km/hr.

Falk Odenthal takes the provisional number one spot in E.T.Bike. Odenthal crossed the finish line in 9.635 seconds at 229 km/hr on a 9.50 dial-in. Stefan Graff is currently second with a 9.955-second run at 220 km/hr, while Lutz Kreuzpeintner is currently third, running 0.237 seconds from his dial-in (11.017 seconds run on a 10.78 dial-in).

A wet first day at the Rico Anthes Quartermile, but still, all sportsman competitors had 1 qualified run, with two for Super Gas and Super Comp.
