Tierp Arena, SWEDEN 24th August 2018: First two Qualifying rounds for FIM/FIA competitors have started on the second day of the ‘Summit Racing Equipment internationals’. Summit Racing Equipment is the main sponsor of the 5th round of the European Championship at Tierp Arena. For the sportsmen class, it is the second and last qualifying rounds prior eliminations tomorow.

Top Fuel Dragster: Anita Mäkelä takes the lead with the only three second run during the first day of qualification (3.9169 sec).  The rest of the competitors suffered from heavy tire shaking and were struggling to keep their dragster straight. Also, the second qualifying round wasn’t a success for most of the competitors, Except Timo Lehtimäki who manages to, improve his time. He is now second with a 4.287-second run (achieved during the qualification round 2) and Liam Jones (Nitrolympx, 4rd round winner) is currently in third place with a 6.444-second run.

In the Top Methanol class, it is Sandro Bellio who takes the lead with a stunning 5.394 second run in the first round. The Belgian driver was during the first qualifying round to quick for the Habermann brothers (Timo & Dennis). Although both have improved their time in the second qualification round, it still wasn’t enough to take the number one spot from Bellio. After two rounds, it is Dennis Habermann in second place with a 5.401-second run. His brother Timo is in third place with just 0.056 seconds difference(5.457 sec)! will Sandro maintain his number one spot or will be some changes in the coming qualification rounds? Andreas Arthursson takes the number one spot in Pro Modified with a stunning 5.831-second run, which is also a new Personal best (PB) for Arthursson. With this run, he also set a new European record for this class (Old record:  Michael Gullqvist 5.833 sec, set here at Tierp Arena last year). Also, Roger Johansson set a new personal best of 5.932 seconds, which is good enough for the second place. Dutch driver David Vegter (5.997 sec) is in third place with only 0.065 seconds behind Johansson!

In the Pro Stock class, it is the Swedish driver Jimmy Ålund who is the first qualifier with a 6.609-second run leaving Bengt Ljungdahl in second place with a 6.645-second run.  Third place is for Stefan Ernryd in his dodge dart who manage to improve his time in the second round( 6.698 to 6.690 sec), but this wasn’t quick enough to beat Bengt or Jimmy.

Jan Sturla Hegre takes the number one spot in Top Fuel Bike, with a 6.334-second run, leaving Peter Andersson in second place with a 7.173-second run (0.839-second difference). In third place is Thomas Pettersson with an 8.017-second run.

Vesa Ruhanen is number one qualifier at Tierp Arena in the Super Street Bike (SSB) class with a stunning 6.980-second run, so far the only second during this qualification! Mathias Bohlin took the number two spot with a 7.120 second-run, leaving Mogens Lund in the third position with a 7.145-second run.
