Tierp Arena, SWEDEN 25th August 2018: And the qualifications continues during the ‘Summit Racing Equipment internationals’ at Tierp Arena. The temperature at Tierp is much cooler than yesterday and the track seems to be in better shape as several competitors improved their time and maintain their position or even moved up on the qualification list.

Anita Mäkelä maintains her number one position in the Top Fuel Dragster class, with a 0.021-second improvement (from 3.9169 to 3.895 sec), she managed to stay in front of the rest.  During the Nitrolympx weekend she was unable to qualify in the top, but so far here at Tierp, she is performing at her best!  A new second qualifier as Antti Horto is the second competitor, who manage his dragster into the three second (3.963 sec) and Pushed Timo Lehtimäki to the third place. Timo was able to improve his time from  4.287 to 4.076 second, but this just wasn’t fast enough!  Liam Jones (NitrOlympX winner) is in the seventh position after suffering from tire shaking in all of his runs.

In the Top Methanol class, it is Sandro Bellio still on top! Although the Belgian driver couldn’t improve his yesterday’s time, it was fast enough to maintain his position.  Jonny Lagg improves his time to a stunning 5.347 in a side by side race against Dennis Habermann (5.370 sec) In the fourth qualification round. Lagg is now only 0.002 second behind Bellio and claims the second position. The Habermann brothers are now in third (Dennis, 5.370 sec) and fourth (Timo, 5.378) position, with also a minimum difference between them.  Sandro will meet Ari Pietilä (6th qualifier) in the first elimination round, while the Habermann brother will meet each other.

Andreas Arthursson Maintain his number one spot in Pro Modified in a tremendous way!  The Swedish driver already backed up yesterday European record to a stunning 5.803 second, later he improved it again to an unbelievable 5.756 seconds! Arthursson definitely is raising the bar for the European Pro Modified! Jimmy Ålund jumped from the 16th position to the second position in a stunning 5.859-second run and pushed Roger Johansson down the list. Johansson is in the third position with a 5.860-second run, which is only 0.0012 seconds behind Ålund. Arthursson will meet Marcus Perman (16th position) in the first elimination round, while Jimmy will Micke Johansson. Will Arthursson raise the bar even more in his turbocharged 69’ Chevelle? Will he win this round?

The only competing Dutch drivers, David Vegter & Michel Tooren are in fourth and eighth place. Vegter will meet Rolf Simonsson in the first elimination round while Michel will meet Åke Persson. Stay tuned for elimination day!

Number one in the European Championship, Bengt Ljungdahl takes the lead in Pro stock! Bengt improved his time from 6.645 to a stunning 6.575 seconds. In Second place, it is Micheal Malmgren, with a difference of only 0.01 seconds behind Ljungdahl! Malmgren booked a 5.592 second run in a close race against Robin Norén (6.631 seconds). Thomas Lindström also improved his time from 6.698 to 6.607 seconds and is now third with only 0.01 second behind Malmgren! Difference between Lindström and leader Bengt Ljungdahl is only 0.03 of a second! This will be an interested class to follow as top six are 1/100 of seconds behind each other.

Jan Sturla Hegre Maintained his number one position in Top Fuel Bike. Although he couldn’t improve yesterday 6.334-second run, it was good enough to maintain the lead. A small change in the second and third position as Thomas Pettersson improved his time to a stunning 6.814 second and pushed Peter Andersson down to the third position. Peter wasn’t able to improve yesterday 7.173-second run.

Also in Super Street Bike, yesterday’s top qualifier has maintained his position. Vesa Ruhanen manage to lower his time by 0.015 (6.965-second run) and is still the only one who manages to drive into the six seconds during this weekend! Mogens Lund is now second with 0.11 seconds behind Ruhanen and pushed Mathias Bohlin into the third position with a 7.120-second run.

A Big surprise in Super Twin Top Fuel Bike as second Qualifier Vesa Liponen manage to enter the five second with his Harsh Top Fuel Twin bike! Vesa from Finland is the first ever to enter the five-second barrier and run a perfect 5.920 second. To make it more interesting, Jaska Salakari also breaks the five-second barrier in pursuit of the record and breaks it! Salakari reset the record immediately by 0.08 to an impressive 5.837 seconds and is now top qualifier! An outstanding achievement for these Competitors as they have broken the five-second barrier and set the new world record!
